About Us
The Altoona Trackers is a non-profit 501(c)3 travel hockey organization that is part of the Pittsburgh Amateur Hockey League (PAHL). The league is made up of teams from Western PA, Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia. Our season runs from August to March playing 20 games and plenty of practices in between. The games are only on the weekends with two practices per week throughout the season. The game schedule is done by the head coach in conjunction with all the PAHL coaches in either Oct or Nov depending on age level. Every season is subject to having a different schedule so parents/guardians and players must be flexible!
We are a parent coached organization with some really outstanding skills coaches by our side. Our head coaches do the majority of practice plans but they can also utilize our skating and hockey skills instructors throughout the season at no additional cost.
We strive to teach the basic hockey skills of skating, stick handling, passing and shooting which facilitate the development of motor skills, hand/eye coordination, quickness and endurance. Physical size is not an important factor in becoming a skilled and successful hockey player. Every player participates in the game, which is exciting and fast-moving. Each player is encouraged to do the best he/she can and to contribute to the success of the team. In doing so, each skater learns to win with pride and to lose with dignity.
